Title: Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children
Character age: 23
Debut: Anime Expo 2005
Approximate cost: $46
Reason for Cosplaying: Well, Velvy was going to cosplay Kadaj at AX, and at the time, I knew nothing about Advent Children and had never even played
FF7. I decided I should at least look into it. So I downloaded the 4 minute trailer for Advent Children. And as anyway who has seen it can tell you, it... freaking...
ROCKED. It was one BITCHIN trailer. I was familiar with all the characters of FF7, despite never playing the game. I knew that Tifa was pretty kick ass, so I decided
maybe I should cosplay her. Her costume is quite awesome. I suggested the idea to Velvy, and she loved it, so I began construction on AC Tifa. It was grueling work
sewing with all those layers of fake leather. In fact, I'm pretty certain it's the leather that broke my old Singer, but I'm hoping reaction to this costume at AX will make
it worth it. ^^
Afterthoughts: AX05: Well, because the only time we were in the courtyard with these costumes was for our quick photoshoot with consplayers, not many non-masquerade photos
of this costume/our group exist (aside from the private shoot). But the awesomeness that was our performance in the masquerade totally made up for that. ;D The audience REALLY got into our
skit- they laughed at EVERY joke- it went over SO well! *_* We missed Craftsmanship judging, and we didn't get an award, but it was still a total blast. Thank you, AX audience! You ruled. :)
AWA 11: I was really disappointed at not having the Tifa wig at AWA (it was still in California), but wearing the costume was still fun. I hung out with our Yuffie (Aimi) a bit, and was asked for
a lot more pictures then at AX. Also, I was really excited about having a private photoshoot with Lionel in this costume. ^^ We started out Friday night, but the lighting was not satisfactory, so
Lionel and I arranged to meet up again Sunday morning to continue our shoot- which was all fine and dandy, but I hadn't brought my straightener with me, so my hair was a total WRECK. XD Ah,
well, learned my lesson. From now on, I shall never leave home without it. :)
