Reason for Cosplaying: No one can watch FLCL and not be entertained by the madness that is Haruko. I was so entertained, in fact, that I decided I wanted her to be my first costume. Not only would this provide me with an excuse for acting utterly insane at my first convention, but also I figured "Hey, Haruko is pretty popular. Maybe I'll get a good response."
Afterthoughts: The response was actually OVERWHELMING. I don't know if it was because it was my first convention and I wasn't used to it yet, or if it was because the people just really love Haruko. Guess I'll never find out, eh? Anyway, I wore this costume again at AX, only with a new scarf, a better tailored vest, a more fitted shirt, a new wig, and new gloves. I felt so much more Haruko-like, as my costume could no longer be considered ghetto.
